Second Album: Beginnings

    The name of the second album, has its own story.
    While generally speaking, as a story is the continuation of the first album, "Masters Of The Light", it represents a whole new stage of learning and practice with the keyboards, hardware, software and sounds.
    Its story started in November 2011, while I was in Greece.
    I was suffering from the absence of my first keyboard (Yamaha PSR290). My wife, Monica, noticed that and she gifted me with a MIDI keyboard: Behringer U-Control UMX610. An affordable one yet complex enough given my lack of experience.
    It was a totally whole new ground to learn and explore.
    The worst nightmare proved to be "CCs". And still is, but the current level is different now.
    A long story short:
    I started practicing. I came out with some two tracks.
    Somewhere in February 2012, the family helped us with some money and after discussing with my wife, I managed to "cut" a slice of those to buy my first sophisticated keyboard, a workstation: Korg PA500.
    Again, a wole new ground to explore.
    I guess the most challenging thing to learn, was to record and then edit and process the MIDI tracks on a 16 tracks MIDI recorder.
    Then mixing and using the MIDI player, learning about "Transport control", then "Automation" and lots of other stuff I never new anything about.
    Unfortunately for me, only now I had the chance to learn a little about the difference between "Synthesizer keyboard" and "Arranger keyboard".
    I realised that what I really wanted was a synthesizer. Technically speaking, roughly it's the same thing: both are synthesisers.
    At a deeper level of understanding, the features of an arranger are very different from a synthesizer, which is focused on sound design and manipulating large amounts of sounds in various ways, thus the control surface is largely different from that of an arranger.
    Now, getting back to the name of the album, I guess it's now clear what it means: a totally beginner being in front of various challenges.
    The rest of the story, is presented by the music itself.
    By the end of April 2012, I managed to put together the individual tracks and publish it online.

    Numele celui de-al doilea album, are propria sa poveste.
    În vreme ce în general vorbind, ca poveste, este continuarea primului album, "Masters Of The Light", acesta reprezintă un cu totul alt stadiu de învățătură și practică cu claviaturile, cu hardware-ul, software-ul și sunetele.
    Povestea sa, a început în noiembrie 2011, în timp ce eram în Grecia.
    Sufeream din cauza lipsei primei mele claviaturi (Yamaha PSR290). Soția mea, Monica, a observat asta și mi-a dăruit o claviatură MIDI: Behringer U-Control UMX610. O claviatură accesibilă, totuși destul de complexă, având în vedere lipsa mea de experiență.
    A fost un teren de explorat și învățat, în totalitate nou pentru mine.
    Cel mai negru coșmar, s-au dovedit a fi "CC"-urile (CC = Control Change, coduri MIDI). Încă mai sunt, dar nivelul actual este diferit acum.
    Scurtând o poveste lungă:
    Am început să practic. Am reușit să realizez vreo două piese.
    Undeva în februarie 2012 familia ne-a ajutat cu ceva bani și după ce am discutat cu Monica, am reușit să "rup o felie" din acești bani pentru a îmi cumpăra prima claviatură sofisticată, un workstation (stație de lucru): Korg PA500.
    Din nou, un întreg nou teren de explorat.
    Cred că cele mai provocatoare chestii de învățat, au fost să înregisterez și apoi să editez și să procesez pistele MIDI pe un MIDI recorder cu 16 piste.
    Apoi, mixarea și utilizarea player-ului MIDI, învățătura despre "Transport control", apoi "Automatizare" și multe alte chestii total necunoscute mie.
    Din nefericire pentru mine, abia acum am avut șansa să învăț puțin despre diferența dintre "Synthesizer keyboard" și "Arranger keyboard".
    Am conștientizat faptul că ceea ce voiam într-adevăr, era un sintetizator. Tehnic vorbind, în linii mari, este același lucru: ambele sunt "sintetizatoare".
    La un alt nivel de profunzime a înțelegerii însă, funcțiile unui aranjor (arranger) sunt foarte diferite de ale unui sintetizator, care este focalizat pe "sound design" (creația de sunete) și manipularea unui mare număr de sunete în diferite moduri, motiv pentru care, suprafața de control (butoane, potențiometre, etc.) diferă foarte mult de aceea a unui aranjor.
    Acum, revenind la numele albumului, cred că este clar ce înseamnă: un începător în totalitate, aflat în fața a variate provocări.
    Restul poveștii, este prezentat de muzica însăși.
    La finele lui aprilie 2012, am reușit să asamblez pistele individuale și să public albumul online.
